Silicon Metrics Licenses Synopsys Milkyway Environment Through MAP-in

Silicon Metrics to Advance Characterization and Modeling Solutions for Synopsys' Galaxy Design Platform

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 2003-- Silicon Metrics, the leading commercial provider of characterization tools for standard cells, memories, and I/O's, today announced that it has joined Synopsys' Milkyway(TM) Access Program (MAP-in(SM)). Silicon Metrics has tightened the integration of its SiliconSmart characterization solutions with the Synopsys Galaxy(TM) Design Platform for timing, power and signal integrity design closure. Access to the Milkyway direct application programming interface (API) tightens this integration even further, resulting in better-performing nanometer design flows when used with tools of the Galaxy Design Platform.

"Silicon Metrics joins dozens of electronic design automation companies who are using Milkyway for the interoperability and integration of complex design flows," said Rich Goldman, vice president of Strategic Market Development at Synopsys, Inc. "Through the Milkyway APIs, Silicon Metrics couples its SiliconSmart characterization technology more efficiently with the Galaxy Design Platform, resulting in more effective nanometer design processes for customers."

"Silicon Metrics has collaborated extensively with Synopsys to advance the library modeling standards to drive consistent timing and signal integrity closure for 130nm design flows," said Vess Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Silicon Metrics. "As design teams move toward 90nm, the interoperability offered through the Milkway API helps these teams maximize their return on investment through faster timing, power and signal integrity closure flows."
